Merhaba! (Hello!)
My name is Zep, short for Zeynep.
I am a Turkish-Australian, born and raised in Istanbul, living in Sydney. I came to Australia to do my masters degree, fell in love with "the Island" and ended up staying.
I live to eat. It is a family trait as life always revolved around food in our home.
I grew up watching my grandmother making beautiful pastries from scratch, my mother cooking everything "ship shack" ( a sound we make to emphasize the instantaneousness of something) and my father grilling any kind of meat on the charcoal BBQ. All the big resolutions, important conversations and juicy gossips took place in the kitchen while cooking a meal or enjoying one as a family.
So now I cook, sometimes to put a smile on my husband's face, as we believe the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, and other times to feed my friends.
And sometimes, I cook simply when I need a bit of cheering up, as nothing beats the satisfaction of a recipe turning out just the way it should be and the voices my husband makes when he tastes them.
